Chapters 16 - 19 (A) *

RULES OF THE ROAD
1. Do not foul near camp.
2. Do not foul the drinking water.
3. Do not eat rich food in front of the hungry, unless you are prepared to share.
4. Always greet fellow travelers.
5. Respect others privacy.
6. During night hours, remain quiet.
7. No adultery, rape, theft, or murder.
8. No seduction.
9. The sick and pregnant above all.
10. Relationships are allowed only if the men agrees to protect the child long term.
Rule number 10 intrigues me the most.  That rule is trying to enforce a healthy, sturdy relationship between the father and the child.  They are trying to think of the more positive way of life, life outside the tents, and what could occur there.  Many campers require a solid relationship to lean on, especially since everything else around them is extremely turbulent, thus resulting in a requirement.
Another rule that stands out to me is rule number 5.  Despite the fact that they were all squished together in minimal space, there was still an idea of own self.  Earlier in the text it was stated that many families seemed to travel as one, if even for a night.  I feel like this rule contradicts that statement; when someone travels together as a family, there is usually little privacy, with everyone knowing everything that is occurring.  However, this rule seems to oppose that, by stating privacy is required within the tents.
